Sarah and Matty’s love story began at the Naked Vice Christmas party five years ago. After a night of deep conversation, they parted ways, only to serendipitously meet again three weeks later in Bali. It felt like the stars aligned for them, marking the beginning of their beautiful journey together.
Matty had initially planned to propose to Sarah in the Greek islands, but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their plans. After several postponed attempts, he finally proposed on the porch of the house they bought together. Despite some hiccups on the day, the proposal turned out perfect, making the moment even more memorable.
Planning a wedding during the pandemic was no small feat. Sarah and Matty were optimistic and began planning immediately, hoping everything would return to normal by June 2021. Thanks to countless hours spent on Pinterest, they prepared most of the wedding in three weeks. However, another lockdown forced them to cancel two weeks before their original date. Eventually, they rescheduled and chose Noosa as their wedding destination, which holds a special place in their hearts due to fond family holidays.

Selecting Noosa for their wedding was easy, offering the perfect garden setting with a destination feel. After contacting a wedding planner on Instagram, they found an idyllic private property with a beautiful plateau overlooking the mountains. This venue perfectly matched their vision of a garden wedding, making the planning process smooth and enjoyable with the help of Trudy from Lovebird Weddings.
Finding the perfect wedding dress was a journey in itself. After unsuccessfully trying several dresses, Sarah chose a custom dress from Kyha in Melbourne. They created two stunning dresses for her—one for the ceremony and another more fitted dress for the reception. The experience was delightful and exactly what she envisioned.

Their wedding day was picturesque, with white chairs overlooking the mountains and a clear marquee for the reception. The day began with a cocktail party following the ceremony, leading into a sit-down dinner with heartfelt speeches. The evening they concluded with a lively party filled with music and dancing, highlighted by an acoustic performance from Lily Budiasa, adding a magical touch to the celebration.
Among the many memorable moments, the vows and speeches were exceptional for Sarah, as words of affirmation are her love language. Another standout moment was being lifted on their friends’ shoulders on the dance floor, looking down at all their loved ones and feeling grateful for their journey.

For couples planning a destination wedding, Sarah advises trusting your suppliers and wedding planners. Having a good rapport with them makes the process much smoother. Be prepared for unexpected tasks, especially in the weeks leading up to the wedding, but most importantly, enjoy the day and don’t stress too much.
