Q: Welcome, Jayde! Could you start by sharing the most common skin concerns that brides-to-be typically bring to you?
Jayde: Absolutely! The most common problems are melasma, acne, and rosacea. Brides also often seek that plump, dewy, glowing skin. These are the main issues we address when brides come to see us, usually about 12 months before the wedding.
Q: How do we achieve that coveted, glowy, plump skin? What are your key recommendations?
Jayde: Firstly, avoid falling into the trap of TikTok trends. Chopping and changing skincare routines based on these trends can do more harm than good. Understand your skin type and seek professional advice. Start your skincare journey at least four months before the wedding if you’re looking for a glow and 12 to 18 months out if you’re dealing with conditions like acne or melasma.
Q: Can you share some common mistakes people make when treating acne and any realistic timelines for healing?
Jayde: A big mistake is using toothpaste or harsh treatments like benzoyl peroxide without proper guidance. Acne treatment is a journey that takes time—ideally, start at least 12 months before the wedding. For immediate acne management, ensure your skin barrier is strong and use products that won’t overly dry your skin.
Q: What’s your advice on tackling skin issues like melasma?
Jayde: Melasma is tricky and requires a holistic approach. In addition to topical treatments, lifestyle factors like stress, perfume, hormones, and even hot yoga can trigger it. We use a combination of laser treatments and topical prescriptions to manage it effectively.
Q: Can you debunk the myth about water consumption and skin hydration?
Jayde: Drinking water is essential for overall health but doesn’t directly hydrate your skin. Your skin hydrates from the environment, so applying water-based products topically is critical to achieving plump, hydrated skin.
Q: Can you outline a basic skincare routine for both morning and night?
Jayde: Sure! In the morning, cleanse the mist, apply a hydrating serum like hyaluronic acid or niacinamide, and finish with a good moisturiser. Always apply sunscreen during the day. At night, double cleanse, especially if you wear makeup, follow with a mist, serum, and moisturiser.
Q: What treatments do you recommend for preparing the decolletage area for a wedding?
Jayde: Conditions like Pocoliderma, which involves pigmentation and redness, can be treated with IPL, vascular lasers, or PECO. Avoid perfume on your chest, and use sunscreen to prevent further damage.
Q: What’s your take on popular treatments like Morpheus 8 and Threads?
Jayde: Morpheus 8, a fractionated radiofrequency, is great for collagen induction therapy. However, it’s crucial to choose a qualified practitioner. While threads can be effective, I prefer bio-remodelling treatments like those involving salmon testicles, which offer collagen and elastin regeneration with less downtime.
Q: What about LED masks? Are they effective for bridal skincare?
Jayde: LED masks like the Omnilux are excellent for at-home skin care. They promote collagen production and help with overall skin health. Opt for the men’s version, which often has more robust settings.
Q: Can you recommend any affordable yet effective laser treatments for brides on a budget?
Jayde: Laser Genesis is a fantastic option. It’s great for rebuilding collagen, reducing fine lines, and improving skin texture. Regular monthly sessions leading up to the wedding can yield significant results.
Achieving radiant skin for your wedding day is a journey that requires time, professional guidance, and the right treatments. Jayde’s expert advice emphasises the importance of understanding your skin type and following a tailored skincare routine.
