Tell us about your partner, how you met and how the proposal went down! Mark and I actually met on social media…Instagram! Once we started chatting we realised we had a lot in common and we both grew up in country NSW. After our first date, we were inseparable. Not long after we met approx. (3 moths) Mark had to move to Sydney and asked me if I would go with him. I didn’t even think twice and knew it was the right decision. It has been smooth sailing ever since.
Mark proposed at Mrs. Macquarie’s chair in Sydney. Afterwards we had a picnic and Mark had organised for me to have a manicure so my nails looked nice in the proposal photos.
Tell us about the wedding day…
Where did you get married? Tell us a bit about the venue and what drew you to choosing it! We got married at the University of Sydney. It was the only venue we looked at. We were drawn to the beauty and old-world charm of the building and it reminded us a little of Harry Potter! It made our day feel so magical!
Tell us all about your inspiration for the day in terms of how the style of the wedding was pulled together. I didn’t want to over style the venue. I wanted to keep the theme very classical and timeless and compliment the already beautiful surroundings. We decided to add no colour and stick to blacks and whites only. The day turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined.
What was a highlight of the day?
Being able to announce to our closest friends and family that we are expecting a baby girl in May 2020.
What made you decide to choose KWH?
I knew exactly what look I wanted to achieve and I was lucky enough to find the design on the KWH website. I was so excited when I saw the dress that I booked in an appointment on my lunch break and took one of my work friends to see what she thought . The dress I chose was the only dress I tried on and I knew right away that it was the dress for me
What did you especially love about your gown?
I loved how much volume the bottom of the gown had! The team at KWH even gave me a hoop for underneath so I could achieve a really full princess look (which I was obsessed with). I also loved the lace detail on my veil. It was so elegant.
What advice would you give brides searching for their wedding gown?
Trying on a lot of wedding dresses can be really overwhelming. Have a think about the venue and what sort of theme you would like to go with. Looking at our venue, I automatically knew that I wanted something full, timeless and elegant. It helped me narrow down my search a lot
What does love mean to you?
To me, it means not being able to imagine your life without the other person in it. My partner is my best friend, my rock and my happiness all in one. When I think of him – I think of the word love.
Photographer – Megan Kelly – I found Megan on @thebridaljourney on Instagram. Her photos we so effort-less. Megan did a complimentary engagement shoot with my partner and I and the photos were to die for! I didn’t think they could get any better but she managed to top them on our wedding day.
Event Planner- Tran Nguyen @hostcosydney – Tran was provided to us when we booked with Host Co Sydney. We couldn’t have been happier with Trans event planning skills. Our day ran seamlessly and it’s all thanks to her.
Florist – Maysa from @eventflorsit_specialwedding – I found Maysa on instagram also. She works out of her home in Greenacre. She did a fantastic job! we had a mix of silk and real florals on our day. We were able to achieve the look we wanted on a more affordable budget.
Videographer – Tomas Lynch – We original were not going to have a videographer but decided last minute to get somebody to capture our footage and posted a task on air tasker. turned up on the day and exceeded our expectations, he was so impressive we decided to have him cut our footage as well and he did an incredible job.
